Almost Heaven West Virginia...
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River....
Life is old there, older than the trees....
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze....
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong....
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads....
All my memories gather round her...
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water...
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye....
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong....
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads.....
I hear her voice, in the morning hours she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away....
And drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday....
Country roads, take me home....
To the place I belong....
West Virginia, mountain momma....
Take me home, country roads....
Love, love, love.
ReplyDeleteI love this song and your pictures match it so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThis song always reminds me of the WV State Fair. I can still remember hearing John Denver's voice on the speakers at the fairground...good memories! I suddenly want an elephant ear and some cotton candy! :)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are just beautiful!
Your photos reflect W. Virginia so well. I lived for a year in your state many, many years ago -- thought it was beautiful -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI love that song! Great pictures to go with it! I remember back when we were moving back to West Virginia from Maryland that song came on the radio as I was driving away from where we had once lived. Tears in my eyes and singing Country Roads take me Home as I was going home to my Wild and Wonderful West Virginia!
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Day!
