WV Capital City and Capitol Building

Our farm is located about an hour from Charleston, WV, which is our state capital. It is the largest city in WV, with a population of about 51,000. In my opinion, the capitol building in WV is one of the most beautiful....

It proudly sits overlooking the Kanawha River....

Its golden dome rises 292 feet high... higher than the dome on our nation's capitol building in Washington, DC.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks it silly that there are two spellings... capitol and capital that are so closely related?

  1. Hi, Stephanie,
Thanks for stopping by. :) A pizza box would be a great mold for those! We bought a kit to do this one and it had a plastic mold with it.
You're right. The West Virginia capitol building is beautiful! I've seen it many times and I love where it sits. The gold dome is so pretty.
Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  2. I love driving by the Capitol building! My son wants to take a tour of it this Summer. I need to get a move on it because school starts August 18th. We still haven't made our visit to the Clay Center this Summer either. When we lived in Maryland we used to visit DC just about every weekend. I couldn't believe that our Capitol was prettier than the one in DC!

    Have a Wonderful Weekend!
